The Imagination Box was created in collaboration with the Institute of Imagination (iOi) to support SEND learners and their families from within some of London's most vulnerable communities.
Work by the iOi showed many parents lacked the skills and tools to help their most in-need children at home. In response to this, they prototyped a box filled with multi-sensory activities, illustrated instructions, fun materials, and support for parents to help their SEND learners build skills, well-being, and resilience from home.
Fam helped refine a second version of the box, finding the perfect balance between giving a fun, sensory experience to the kids and providing the parents with the confidence to be part of it. Working with production partners sourced by fam, the team managed the delivery of a product that could be distributed across the UK within the target budget and lead time. The work led to an amazing crowdfunding campaign which funded the production of the first 3,000 boxes.
The Imagination Box provides an opportunity for families to see themselves as part of a wider supporting community. It offers activities suitable for children of all ages, proving that with an open mind and an inspirational educational experience, anyone can find joy in worthwhile learning.
