Based on the ground-breaking research by Dacher Kelter from Berekely Univeristy, Fam co-authored a thought leadership piece centred on young people, awe and blue spaces. We developed a research-based framework and shaped a series of workshops focused on building appreciation and reciprocity towards these natural environments.
The workshops employ multi-sensorial and reflective experiences, aiming to enhance nature-relatedness, positive thoughts, restorativeness, awe, generosity, exploration, and pro-social behaviours in children. We also developed an Awe measurement tool, which recorded 100% of the participants having experienced a sense of awe in our pilot.
The ongoing refinement of the Blue Framework aims for broader application in urban settings, particularly in coastal cities, involving children, architects, and designers in creating awe-inspiring experiences.
